Ellis' Kidney Update

Well, we had the post delivery ultrasound yesterday. I don't have the official report, but the rough numbers were something like right kidney was 5.5cm and the left was 6.9cm with obviously clear dilation. I think that I could still see kidney tissue around the large central dilation but it was tough given that Ellis was moving around. I'm sure the radiologist will pause the movement and look more closely as well as the interpretation of our peds urologist at Nemours in Orlando.

Now we are just waiting for Dr. Keating, who is amazing...he responds to emails in a very informal manner like someone who is clearly comfortable with email as opposed to most of the medical community that screams HIPAA violation whenever they mention email but that's another rant for another day, to review the ultrasound. I suspect that the next move is a voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG) followed by possibly a nuclear medicine study to assess blood flow in the kidney.

I'll let you know how all this works out.

On the positive side, Ellis rolled over a half dozen times the other day from stomach to back(I think it was that way). He still seems to have some reflux issues, especially at night but all in all he seems to be doing well.
